Frank, I was intrigued enough to google Martello. Is this the one at Magilligan Point, by any chance?

It is indeed Martin. It is matched by a similar tower on the other side of the inlet at Greencastle in the RoI built by the British, as I am sure you know, to guard the Lough from Napoleon. The tower at Greencastle isn't in as good a condition and at one time it was used as a restaurant. The Magilligan tower is just on the edge of a Military firing range!
